So I was confused as hell about why everyone in this book dies! Why would you write a book if you are just going to kill off all the characters? That still questions me. I found Shadrack to just we very weird too. The title, yes very much caught me off gaurd after finishing the book. I thought it was going to be some nice calm book, well that didn’t happen!

I agree that this was a very dramatic, sad and controversial book. There was a whole lot going on, with brothers being in love with their sister, family problems etc, I agree it does sound like a episode of Jerry Springer.

You’re right. There is no such thing as an origional idea. I wish however they’d take different types of books and put them in the canon. I am sick of reading about some minority character who doesn’t know who they are. Give me a break. It is the same as the others. Great work man. You nailed my opinion on the head.

Great. Nick wasn’t ever developed, but that was probably on purpose inorder for him to be like a messenger type character to make sense of all the other characters.

I agree, and disagree with you. It was a lot like the other books we’ve read, but I think because it was a different background that we don’t usually hear about, like african american’s, it opens a new perspective to what was happening in the book.

Wow… so how do you really feel?? haha.. no I completly agree with you. These books do seem to be the same thing over and over and over again. All these books seem to be about what ethnicity you are and how you choose to fight your battles. How about something different for a change?!?!? This book is pretty much just like every other book, however, I did find this one to be the most interesting of them all. I can’t compare to Mountains of Madness because I did not read that book.

Yes, there is most definately something going on with this family. They are not your “average joe’s”. And a question that must be asked is, does Caddy really know how her brothers feel toward her, and what does she think about that? It is very interesting in reading each chapter to get each of the brothers viewpoints. They all have a very interesting relationship.

I agree with you in that there is something going on in the family. I also agree with Dawn’s comment on that the baby, Quentin, could be Quentin’s baby because he told the father that he committed incest with his sister and she could have named Quentin after her real father.

You’re so right. Something is going on that’s really disturbing. Personally I think that Caddy’s baby really is Benjy’s or Quentins. The girl is loony in the head just as much as Quentin.

That’s a really good point that you make that there is something taboo going on in the Compson family, but we just don’t know what it is yet. It keeps peeking it’s little head out here and there but it is so hard to figure what the issue in the book really is.
